Nicola Adams defeated Northern Irelands Michella Walsh by a split decision the fact that Adams was the smarter boxer was what helped her win this was the first ever commonwealth medal for a lady boxer

Scotland’s Flynn managed to beat Joe Fitzpatrick to secure a Scottish gold medal

Michael Conlan secured gold after defeating England’s Aspas but he did loose the first round

Paddy Barnes became the first boxer to retain his commonwealth title in over 40 years and the only home nation’s fighter ever to retain it. The boxing final itself was quite close

In the final day of the commonwealth games in the morning was the women’s road race where Lizzie Armistead from England won gold silver was Emma Pooley also from England and bronze went to Passio from South Africa

LIVING THE WELSH DREAM

Geraint Thomas from Wales win the men’s road race silver went to Jack Bauer from New Zealand and bronze went to Scot Waits from England

In squash David Palmer came out of retirement to allow Australia to beat England by 2 sets to 1

Married couple Charles and Gabby Alcock won the final of the mixed doubles beating a fellow English pair Tin Tin Ho who is 15 and Lee Pichford

David Parmer and Rachel Grimmer win 11-8 11-10 against a fellow English pair

DISAPOINTMENT BUT HEART SHOWN IN THEESE BIG MATCHES

Tony Murphy from Northern Ireland lost to Kieran Mirliles from Scotland 21-15 21-8 in badminton.

Northern Ireland beat the Caymon Islands mixed doubles team in there pool match to reach the knockout stage they did loose the first set 10-11 but came back to win the second 11-8 and the third 11-2.

NI SECURE AMAZING WIN OVER JERSEY

NI beat Wales by 58 goals to 36 3 of the 4 quarters were won by team NI.

NI secured a 15-14 win over Jersey to secure a bronze medal in the lawn bowls this was a match that Jersey had control of at certain periods but team Ni were able to come back.

 

AUSTRALIANS SHOW HOW EASY IT CAN BE

Australia cruise to the play offs with a 5-0 win over Scotland in men’s hockey.

In women’s Australia beat South Africa 7-1.  

Moran and Clark lost to the Australian pair 11-2 11-10 in squash.

 

THERE IS STILL HOME HOPE

Team Scotland beat team Singapore 21-14 21-11 and got through to the quarters.

Australia’s Larissa Miller got gold and Rebecca Downey from England got silver and England’s Ruby Harold gets bronze in the women’s all round gymnastics.

 

DAVID WEIR SHOWS LEGENDARY STATUS

In the men’s discus Midus Vicus Shane from Canada won gold silver went to Apostolos Parells from Cyprus and bronze to Jason Morgan from Jamaica.

England’s David Weir won the T54 wheelchair race silver went to Kurt Furnway and bronze to Canada’s Ales Duport.

BOTSWANA WIN GOLD

Nijel Amos from Botswana won gold David Roudisha from Kenya won silver and Andre Oliver got the bronze in the men’s 800metres.

In the men’s 400 metres Fredricks from South Africa wins gold Gordon from Trinidad and Tobago got silver bronze Jeffery Gibson of the Bahamas.

CHILD CAN HANDLE PRESURE

Amy Child the reprehensive from Scotland got a silver medal.

Bruce of Nigeria got gold in the long jump England’s Jasmine Sunders getting silver and the bronze going to Cristobel Netty of Canada.

 

ENGLAND SHOW THEY ARE NEARLY THERE

In the women’s 200 metres Blessing Okagbare from Nigeria won gold silver went to Jodie Williams from England and bronze. England has 2nd 3rd and 4th position in this race.

STRONG PREFORMANCES FOR NI GIRLS

Amanda Mogey of Northern Ireland beats Betty Guo 11-4, 11-8, 11-8 in the table tennis first round

Machelle Walsh defeated Sarah Jay Ray of Jamaica this was an easy match for her as she was much stronger in every department

NI SHOW THEY CAN WIN AT NETBALL

Northern Ireland beat Scotland by 37 goals to 32 in the netball

Northern Irish duo Dawson and Lawlon secured a spot in the last 16 of table tennis beating Pakistan opponents 11-9, 11-8, 11-8   

THERE IS NO NATION WE CANT BEAT IN BOXING

Michael Conlan secured a bronze medal in the bantam weight division

Spicer Dominica’s only boxer lost to Audley Murphy of Northern Ireland by split decision this will be the first medal given to a lady as she won her flyweight match

In the gymnastics men’s team final after 6 rotations England got gold with 266.804 in silver was Scotland with 267.603 and the bronze went to Canada with 252.708

A DIFFERENT PLACE FOR MEDALS IN MOUNTAIN BIKING

In the mountain biking A cooper of New Zealand won gold silver going to S Gaze of New Zealand and bronze goes to D Mc Connell of Australia. This was a race between 4 until the end of the race where anyone could have won it

In the women’s mountain biking Catherine Pandel gets gold followed by Emily Batty and bronze going to Beth Harrison

WALES ARE DOING WELL IN THE POOL

Lauren Boyle from Australian won the 800metres swimming in a Glasgow record in silver was Eales hero Jazz Carolin and bronze went to Barret of Australia  

Men’s 50 metre freestyle won by Benjamin proud of England silver to Australians Cameron Mc Evoy and bronze to James Magnuson of Australia

In the women’s 5o metre backstroke Georgia Davis from Wales got gold in a Glasgow record silver went to Lauren Quigly and bronze to Brooke sanders of Canada

Daniel Turner from Australia won gold in the men’s individual medley silver went to Daniel Wallace of Scotland and bronze to Chad Le Closs of South Africa

Sophie Taylor won the women’s 100m breaststroke Laura Tonks from Australia got the silver and Alia Atkinson got the bronze

Libby Clegg won the T11/12 100 metres with a season’s best and as her sight has decreased it is more impressive how she can run with a guide
UNKNOWNS WIN GOLD IN 100 METRES
Blessing from Nigeria got gold in the women’s 100 metres in 10.85 followed by Veronica Campbell Brown and bronze to K Stewart of Jamaica
The men’s was won by Baily Cole of Jamaica followed by Adam Gemil and the bronze went to N Ashmeade of Jamaica

A SMALL NATION CAN ACHIEVE NEARLY ANYTHING

Northern Ireland got the silver medal in the lawn bowls after loosing 19-10 to South Africa a game that they were not in range of at any point and you would thing looking in during the match that South Africa has had complete controlof this match. This will be retiring Skip Neil Booths last match as him and his team of Paul Daly and Neil Mulholland go down happy.

Michael Dawson from Northern Ireland reached the 50 metre breaststroke semi final

Ward lost by split decision to an English favourite which means that there will be no medal for him and if he had the luck of the draw he could have went further in the competition

In the boxing Northern Irish boxer  Ruri Dail got trough to the quarter final of the boxing after winning his match in the flyweight division

SHELLY CELEBRATES HAPPY SUNDAY MORNING FOR AUSTRILIA

Mike Shelly from Australia won gold in the marathon with a personal best of  2:11:13 in silver was Steven Chelang of Kenya and the Bronze medal for Adrian Kiplino also from Kenya

Daniel won the gold and Kittel won the silver both from Kenya but Australians Jess Trenmore was able to get the bronze which made for a happy morning for Australia

Australia also managed to get the bronze medal after beating India in the team event

In the women’s field hockey Canada cruised into a 4-1 win

Men’s hockey New Zealand beat India 3-0

IS ANNA MEERS TIME UP

In the cycling there were gold medals for both Jess Varnish and Stephanie Morton who had to beat old favourite Anna Meers

MOMENTS OF THE GAMES

The first moment of the games for me so far is the moment when a man from the solemn islands ran to the finish and was happy to finish the race as the fans clapped him on he was far behind the leaders and you saw how happy he was to finish the race

The other moment of the Commonwealth games was yesterday also when Erraid Davies won a bronze medal in the pool and she is only 13 years old

NEWZELANDS UNBEATEN COMONWELTH RUN IS OVER

New Zealand lost their Commonwealth title last night after loosing 17-12 to South Africa this is a title that they have never lost before

In the Bronze match Australia hammered Samoa by 24-0. I was disappointed not to see England in the semi finals
